Want more help in deciding on your outdoor flooring?
A key advantage of using TruNorth condo deck boards is that they can be elevated just above balcony floors, which can often be uneven. This elevated design provides a stable and level surface for you to walk on, making your balcony more usable and enjoyable.
Elevated deck boards can even add an extra layer of insulation, while leaving room for air circulation and water drainage. This system is perfect for surfaces where interlocking tile floating floors won't work. Our sleeper frame can be built over uneven rooftops, bitumen membranes, paver stones, concrete, and more.
All things fade with time, but fortunately, TruNorth boards will have very minimal fading due to their resilient material finishes.
TruNorth Deck offers a comprehensive decking solution with the Slide & Go® system. This system utilizes hidden fastening clips and stainless screws to securely attach each deck board, allowing for seamless and effortless installation.
The composite material is designed to expand and contract with changes in weather, and the clips leave a 3/16 inch gap between the boards for proper air circulation and water drainage. The black fastening clip and screw not only secure the deck board but also protect the joist from water and sun exposure by covering the top and blending into the shadows.
Like all Condo Kandy deck boards, these floors require minimal maintenance. All you need to do is sweep the boards, but if you want to keep them extra clean you can also power wash them 1-2 times a year.
TrueNorth uses rice hulls which are very hardy, ensuring your power washer will not damage your luxurious new floor. We recommended using soap detergent and a hose fan spread of 6 inches or more.
Composite deck boards are susceptible to expansion and contraction with fluctuations in temperature. If the fastening clips are tightened too much, it can cause unequal expansion and contraction of the boards, leading to warping or buckling.
To avoid this, it is important to ensure that the clips are tightened correctly. If you still notice uneven expansion, you can add two colour-matched screws or screws with plugs in the centre of the board and into the joist to secure the board in place, promoting equal expansion on both ends. This simple solution helps maintain the integrity and beauty of your composite deck for years to come.
The Enviroboard is a cost-effective alternative to the Solid Core board and offers a slightly more flexible design. However, if you have a joist spacing of 16 inches or plan to install the decking at a 45-degree angle, it’s recommended to use the Solid Core boards. Some municipalities also prefer the Solid Core boards for permit applications.
Both boards are backed by a 25-year warranty for stain, fade, and structural protection, and the only noticeable difference between the two is the minimal flex on wider joist spacing. Choose the right board for your project and enjoy long-lasting beauty and performance with TruNorth Deck.
